"to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield"
|
|
Valdosta High School strives to graduate caring students who continue to seek knowledge in a changing world - a world that requires understanding and respect for other cultures. A relevant curriculum, rigorous assessment, and strong relationships encourage students to find their strengths and not to yield until they do their best work.

|
*Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
*A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
*The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, and lifelong learners.
*Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
*A student's self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff.
*Teachers, administrators, parents, students, and the community share the responsibility for advancing the school's mission.
*Schools need to promote opportunities for all those who have a stake in the success of the school to work together as a community of learners.
*Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a curriculum and a variety of instructional practices to support their learning.
*Students' learning needs should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of the school.

The philosophy of Valdosta High School revolves around a broad base of goals and objectives. These general goals dictate that genuine education has a fourfold purpose:
*to provide for the transmission of the national heritage
*to promote improvement of all skills required for successful functioning in society
*to encourage a continuous analysis and reappraisal of values
*to give opportunities for research and for expression of creativity
